Reason to Celebrate
Three decades of history came to life during a 30th anniversary open house held Aug. 11 at Berry College Elementary and Middle School.
The event, held at Hamrick Hall on the mountain campus, is the first of several scheduled for the coming months marking the 1977 opening of the Early Learning Center – the precursor to today’s BCEMS. Next up is a Mountain Day open house, brunch, reunion and children’s fair scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, also at Hamrick Hall.
As part of this ongoing celebration, organizers are asking current and former students, faculty/staff, student teachers and others whose lives have been enriched through their involvement with BCEMS to “claim your place” in Berry history by contributing photos and other memorabilia that can be scanned for use in a room-sized timeline on display at the school. Stories will be recorded at the various events for possible use in a DVD or other media project, and an alumni database is in development as well.
