In order to provide users with efficient and supportive assistance, the archives offers a variety of services. Photocopying and photographic duplication are both available for a fee. Reference assistance pertaining to Martha Berry and/or Berry College history is available via phone, mail, email and in the archives. In addition, research consulations with the archivist are available by appointment and are an excellent way to begin Berry-related research.

For more information on Reference Services, Reading Room Assitance, Exhibits, Photocopying, Photographic Duplication, and to see our Fee Schedule please follow the links.

Reference Services

Reference assistance is available for e-mail, phone, mail and in-person requests. General assistance is provided to on-campus and off-campus researchers. Off-campus rearchers are encouraged, but not required, to alert archives staff of their visit and research need in an effort to serve them best. Please see Research page for more information on completing research in the archives.

Reading Room Assistance

Upon entrance to the reading room, researchers should complete a patron registration form. The rules for the use of collections are posted on the information desk and should be read before the patron registration form is signed. They can also be found here.

Photocopying

Archives staff perform all photocopying. The archives photocopies only materials intended for research or private study. In accordance with current copyright law, only one copy will be made of copyrighted materials, including manuscripts. The archives will copy an entire work only when shown a copy of written permission granted by the copyright owner. The archives reserves the right to refuse a request for photocopying if such copying will violate copyright law or if it will damage fragile materials. Rules concerning photocopying and copyright law information are posted at the reference desk. See payment schedule for photocopying fees.

Photographic Duplication

The Berry College Archives provides duplication service of photographs within its care through scanning into electronic format. Services consist of scanning and printing of photographs (applicable fees will be charged), including scanning to a specific resolution and format (TIF, JPEG, BMP), and saving photographic files to CD-R. The Archives staff does not provide graphic design assistance or photograph manipulation – such manipulation is the responsibility of the researcher.

Large projects will take time, so please plan accordingly. The Archives does not provide “rush” service on large duplication requests.
