  1. APPLYING FOR ADMISSION AND BEING ACCEPTED IS THE FIRST STEP

You can  apply for admission. If you have been accepted,  find out your next steps!
  2. GET YOUR FEDERAL STUDENT AID I.D.

To maximize eligibility for Federal, State, and Berry College financial assistance, you should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)Before completing the FAFSA, we encourage you to apply for a Federal Student Aid (FSA) I.D., which can be done  here.  This is a requirement for students and parents.  Your FSA I.D. is used to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically signing your federal student aid documents.

  3. COMPLETE THE FAFSA AND REVIEW THE RESULTS

Complete the  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Berry College ID number 001554 should be entered when you list the schools where the information should be sent.
You will receive the results of your FAFSA in the form of a Student Aid Report (SAR) at the email address listed on the FAFSA approximately 4-6 days after electronic filing.
The  FAFSA becomes available on January 1st of each year.
Parents and students are encouraged to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to access their tax return when filling the FAFSA. This will make the data as accurate as possible and expedite the process.

  4. SUBMIT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT IS REQUIRED BY BERRY COLLEGE OFFICE OF FINANCIAL AID.

The Federal Processor selects a percentage of FAFSA filer to complete a process called "verification." This requires students to complete a verification worksheet, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool or provide Berry with a Federal Tax Transcript and other items as requested. You will be notified about this process by the Office of Financial Aid by email after you receive your financial aid award letter.

  5. GEORGIA RESIDENTS- HOPE, ZELL MILLER, AND GEORGIA TUITION EQUALIZATION GRANT (GTEG)

Georgia residents must either complete the FAFSA application at  www.fafsa.gov or file the GSFAPPS application at  www.gacollege411.org  in order to be considered for state aid.  Georgia Student Finance Commission will determine each student’s eligibility for HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship funds and the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant (GTEG).

  6. REVIEW FINANCIAL AID LETTER FROM BERRY COLLEGE.

You will receive a financial aid award letter from Berry College when your FAFSA information is received. Berry College automatically considers all students for Federal student loans.  There will be instructions provided on how to either decline, accept or reduce the student loan(s) offered. If the student loans are accepted by the student, there are additional items needed to complete the application process. These items will be detailed in your packet.
