James Story, Admission Counselor
Hometown: Fayetteville, Georgia
Greetings, and thank you for your interest in Berry College!
I graduated from Berry in 2010 with a major in Communication with a Public
Relations concentration, and a Psychology minor. I have been fortunate enough
to work on staff here at Berry since 2011, first in our Office of Student Work
and now as an Admissions Counselor in the Office of Admissions. I feel so
fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Berry to prospective students
and their families every day!
As I navigated through the channels of my college search, it
quickly become evident to me where I wanted to be. I looked at all different
types of schools throughout my junior and senior years of high school, but they
all paled in comparison to where I knew I wanted to spend the next 4 years of
my life: Berry College. It quickly became evident to me that Berry was where I
could come to get an incredible college experience: small class sizes,
interaction with faculty and staff members, being immersed in a place with such
rich history, endless opportunities to get involved on campus and a dynamic
student work experience program. Oh, and the fact that all of this took place
in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains on the world’s largest (and most
beautiful) campus was an extra added bonus!
While at Berry, I actively took part in our student work
program all 4 years – working in the Call Center, Oak Hill and the Martha Berry
Museum, the Office of Admissions, the Alumni Center, the Office of First-Year
Experience, and the Office of Public Relations. I also served as a summer
orientation (SOAR) leader and chaired the committee that plans Marthapalooza –
our biggest event on campus each year! Needless to say, I was always busy
working but feel that I got so much more than a solid resume out of my student
owe Berry College for giving me the best 4 years of my life, and I still can’t
help but smile when I drive onto campus every day. I hope you will come visit
with us and experience firsthand all that Berry College has to offer!
