Starr Boylan, Senior Admissions Counselor
Hometown: Rome, Georgia
Alma Mater: Berry College, Rome, Georgia
Degree Earned: Bachelor of Science in Business Management, May 1993
up in Rome, I had always been interested in attending Berry. As the
time grew nearer to make a college decision, I learned that Berry would
provide me with more than just a top notch education from a highly
regarded liberal arts college. Berry would also prepare me for a life
of service to others with practical work experience and opportunities
for spiritual growth.
While a student at Berry, I experienced
challenging coursework in what is now the Campbell School of Business
preparing me with the necessary skills to succeed in the world of work.
I was a member of Executive Round Table, an informational forum and
networking organization consisting of select business students, business
faculty, and leading industry professionals.
I participated in numerous intramural sports
activities including basketball, soccer, softball, tennis, and my
favorite, flag football. I was an active member of Circle K, a
leadership and community service club sponsored by Kiwanis
International. I was also involved in Baptist Student Union, now known
as Baptist Campus Ministries. I rarely missed BSU’s weekly
“LunchEncounter” and participated in a small group Bible study. I could
often be seen in the stands cheering on Vikings basketball and soccer,
and in the audience at various concerts and plays on campus.
As a student, I was employed at the Child
Development Center, an on campus laboratory preschool, as an assistant
teacher in the three year old class. My senior year, I served as the
office manager of the center.
Upon graduation from Berry in May 1993,
I was employed in the Office of Admissions as an admissions counselor.
I served in this capacity until 1997, when I resigned my position to
stay at home with my new son. During my time “off” from Berry, I taught
at and directed a preschool and served as children’s coordinator at my
church. When I had an opportunity to return to the admissions staff in
2007, I did not hesitate at the chance to come “home” to Berry.
Please feel free to contact me about your interest in Berry. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
