Frequently Asked Questions

Program Information

Can I attend the program full-time?

No, the program is structured for students attending on a part-time basis. The course rotation takes into consideration that students will take 1-2 courses per semester so not all required courses are offered every semester.

How long does it take to complete the program?

The program typically takes students five semesters or 21-months if taking two courses per semester without a break. Students must complete the program with six years so students may take fewer than two courses per semester and may take a semester off without reapplying.

Can I still apply if I do not have an undergraduate degree in business?

Yes, over 60% of our current students hold undergraduate degrees in areas such as anthropology, sociology, government, animal science, engineering, psychology, fashion merchandising, and communications.

How many students are in the program?

Since 1973, the average number of students enrolled is 32. We are a small program which we believe is one of our greatest strengths. Our class sizes are small and typically average 15 students. The small nature of the program allows students to get to know their professors, engage in every class discussion, and build a professional network of professors, students, and alumni.

Is summer a required semester?

Yes, students are required to attend at least one summer. Typically, the accounting and finance courses are only offered in the summer.

Admission Requirements

What is included in the application?

View Admission Requirements for more information.

Is there an application fee?

No, there is no charge to apply for admission to the program.

Program Information

What are the deadlines for applying?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Deadlines for each semester are Fall - July 1, Spring – December 1, and Summer – April 1. All application materials must be received at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester.

Can I apply as a non-degree student?

No, students must be fully admitted into the program.

Are there any proficiency courses required before applying?

Yes, proficiency areas include accounting, finance, statistics, management, marketing, and economics. Generally applicants who hold an undergraduate degree in business will have met these requirements. For other applicants who have not completed any undergraduate business courses, we offer self-paced online modules that may be completed to meet these requirements. Proficiency requirements must be met prior to entering the program; however, you do not have to be accepted into the program before beginning the modules. A transcript evaluation will be completed by the MBA Office to determine which modules need to be completed.

Is there a minimum GPA required for admission?

No. The average GPA of admitted applicants is 3.33 which is not used as the minimum.

Is there a minimum score required for the GMAT?

The GMAT is just one component we review for applications; however, a minimum of 400 must be achieved.

Can I waive the GMAT?

Yes, only for applicants who have already completed a graduate degree.

Is there a work experience requirement?

We strongly recommend at least two years of work experience. Competitive applicants will have five or more years of relevant work experience. Internships and on-campus student work, along with other relevant experience, will be considered for applicants who do not meet the recommended work experience.

Financial Information

How much does it cost to complete the program?

The current tuition per semester hour is $524 for the 2013-14 year. The program consists of 30 credit hours. Tuition may change effective in the summer.

Are there any additional fees applied?

There is a $25 per semester technology fee that is charged in the fall and spring semesters. No other fees are applied.

What types of financial aid are available?

Visit Financial Aid for more information.

Can I pay my tuition through an installment plan?

Yes, students interested in this option should contact the Student Business Services Office at 706.236.1710.

What should I do if my employer is reimbursing or paying my tuition?

Students should complete the Employer Reimbursement Tuition Form.
