Message from the Director
As Director of Berry College Elementary and Middle School, I extend a warm welcome to all of you who are considering our school as the place for your son or daughter. The entire faculty, staff, and I are honored that you are considering BCEMS, because we know that you have a choice.
As I look across our playground, and down the hill to the Mirror Lake, and then toward Frost Chapel, I realize how fortunate I am to be here. I am convinced that anyone would be hard pressed to find a more beautiful, serene campus anywhere in the world. It is a lovely place for children to learn and grow. Maybe it's being nestled at the foot of Lavender Mountain that feeds our spirit, but it's our laboratory school status that feeds us intellectually.
We have the support of Berry College to ensure that we provide the very best education to your children. This level of support helps us continue a rich legacy of teaching bright, curious students. Professors and future teachers partner with our teachers and BCEMS students to create a community where students learn to think critically, creatively and independently. We are committed to providing our students with the best tools and materials for learning, including classroom Smart Boards, a new Mac Lab, and laptop carts for middle school classroom use. Most importantly, we boast of a highly qualified, caring faculty and staff.
Whether you are planning an official visit to our school or just a casual drive to enjoy the beauty of our campus, I am compelled to warn you of impending traffic. As you approach the bridge crossing the creek connecting Mirror Lake to Swan Lake, be ready to stop for oncoming traffic, consisting of ducks and geese making their way across the road. It has been my experience that ducks and geese do not yield the right-of-way and are not known for their courtesy; they do not mind honking at you for getting in their way.
