Introduction to HPE 127 Canoeing

This class is designed for those who have an above-average level of swimming ability and a desire to develop the basic level of skill and knowledge necessary to enjoying the life-long benefits of paddle sports. The first class session acquaints students with the fundamentals of trip planning, history of canoeing, and the terms and definitions needed to understand the sport of canoeing. After a preparatory session of flatwater skill development the class culminates in a weekend experience on moving water and class III or less whitewater. Evening and weekend sessions are required. There is an additional fee for the class.
