Internships
The Berry College Academic internship program offers upperclass students the opportunity to gain real world experience through the application of their learning in a variety of settings. Internships also give students the chance to apply their learning and to gain insight into the skills and experiences required in the non-academic, professional setting.
Students wishing to participate in an academic internship must be a junior or senior with at least a 2.6 GPA (a 3.0 is recommended). Students must also be able to communicate effectively both written and orally, have good organizational and time management skills, and be capable of representing Berry in a positive light. Students that have taken advantage of internship opportunities have benefited from the experience.
College academic credit is also available for most internships. Students may earn from three to six hours of credit per semester, however, no more than 12 hours of credit can be applied toward the student's major. Students interested in the internship program should speak to their advisor for further information.
Internships are available in social service, mental health, educational, business, and industry settings. Dr. Jennings serves as the psychology departmental resource person for internship sites and as a source for information on the process for organizing and registering for an internship. Administrative approval must be received in the semester prior to the actual internship experience.
