Scholarship Information
Let’s face it — for college students, money isn’t easy to come by. Luckily, the communication department has programs that can help! Whether you’re into broadcasting, journalism or speech, the communication department has a scholarship for you. Approximately 40 scholarships are awarded to communication majors and minors annually. Receiving from $300 to $1,500, scholarship students are asked to work for the Campus Carrier, Cabin Log, the Forensics team or Viking Vision-Channel 55.
Applications must be received by March 1 in order to be considered for the following fall. To apply for a communication scholarship, you must complete application forms and provide work samples. For more information and forms, contact:

You also can print both the application form for the student and the recommendation form for the instructor. While departmental scholarships can be helpful, they’re not the only way to get some cold, hard cash. Other scholarships available to communication students include The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Scholarship, American Women in Television and Radio Scholarship and Georgia Press Educational Foundation Scholarship. Students are encouraged to take advantage of as many scholarship opportunities as possible. After all, who wouldn’t want a little extra help paying for college?
