Career Opportunities

Students majoring in English can expect to pursue careers in law, advertising, publishing, teaching, technical and creative writing, public and academic administration, library science, business management, social services, counseling, and speech therapy.

Some recent graduates of the department are attending graduate school while others are active in diverse profesional fields. Recent graduates in the English, Rhetoric and Writing department have been accepted to study at the University of Chicago, University of Miami, New York University, Jesus College at the University of Oxford, Hollins College, University of Virginia and the University of Georgia.
