Maya Angelou information and schedule change

We are very pleased to provide our conference attendees admission to a lecture by Dr. Maya Angelou.  Dr. Angelou will be speaking as part of “One Book, Many Voices,” a Rome/Floyd County community event, on Thursday evening, September 27  (for further information on this event please visit: http://www.romelibrary.org/onebook.html).  A ticket and transportation will be provided for full conference attendees (Thursday-Saturday) to and from the Forum in downtown Rome where the event will be held.  If you are registering for Saturday only and would like to see Dr. Angelou, the public library’s website contains information on ticket sales, which open August 15.  Unfortunately, Dr. Angelou will not be available to sign books or meet the audience.

Due to an error on our part, however, we need to announce a schedule change for Thursday evening.  Dr. Angelou’s lecture is at 7:00 p.m., not 8:00 as printed in the program.  This will require an adjustment to the schedule just prior to her lecture.  Dinner on Thursday will begin at 5:15, and Dr. Minrose Gwin will deliver her scholarly talk at 5:30; we will finish at 6:15 in order to have time to travel to the Angelou lecture.  We thank Dr. Gwin for being understanding of this time conflict; she will be delivering a shortened version of her lecture so that we can make it to the Angelou event on time.
