A powerful story about bad luck and perserverance, Getting Out follows the life of Arlene, a young, Southern woman just released from jail after serving an eight year sentence for robbery and attempted murder. She quickly finds life on the outside even more difficult than the one she knew in prison. Arlene must learn to live the clean life not only to avoid another incarceration, but also to regain custody of her son. In the end, Getting Out is a heart-wrenching tale of a struggle to reform, overcome the past, and defeat her own criminal label.
