Biography
John Hickman is Associate Professor of Comparative Politics, and responsible for teaching courses on the politics of East Asia, South Asia, Western Europe, and Eastern Europe, in addition to courses on comparative political parties and electoral systems, and research methods.
Before earning his PH.D. in Political Science from the University of Iowa, he taught at Reitaku University in Tokyo while collecting data for his doctoral dissertation. Dr. Hickman has served as a Woodrow Wilson Administrative Fellow at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee and In the last five years, he has conducted field research in Cambodia, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, and Romania.
His published research on electoral politics has appeared in American Asian Review, Asian Perspective, American Politics Research, Comparative State Politics, Contemporary South Asia, Current Politics and Economics of Asia, East European Quarterly, Journal of Southern Europe and the Balkans, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Science, Women & Politics, and the Yamanashigakuin Law Review.
His published research on politics and the media has appeared in East European Quarterly, Review of Religious Research, South Asia Journal of Socio-Political Studies, and Jouvert. His published research on politics and space development has appeared in Comparative Strategy and Journal of Evolution and Technology. Other published work on international affairs has appeared in African Development Review, Synthesis/Regeneration, and West Africa.
