ART
Art majors at Berry prepare for a lifelong dedication to art as a unique form of knowledge and expression. Art becomes a way of life.
Inspiration, exploration
In the art program, you will be encouraged to work hard, seek inspiration and be creative and innovative while you develop critical thinking and writing skills. You will have the opportunity to experiment with various media as you develop your own artistic vision and prepare for your senior exhibition. Painting, drawing, photography, digital imaging, Web design, ceramics, prints and mixed media all are areas you can explore, as are art history, art criticism, museum studies and art administration. Most Berry art majors even have a private or semi-private art studio available 24 hours a day!
Art concentrations
Through Berry’s art program, you can earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentration in:
- Studio art.
- Art history.
- Art education.
Typically, students who elect studio art or art history prepare for a career in the art world and continue on to graduate school. If you are interested in teaching art in a public or private school, then the education concentration is the route to take.
MUSIC
Whether you want to perform, teach or work in the music business, Berry can help you reach your goals.
Three music degrees
Berry’s music program holds full membership in the National Association of Schools of Music. Degrees offered are:
- Music education – which leads to state certification for grades K-12 in choral and instrumental music.
- Bachelor of Arts in music – for students interested in pursuing music performance in graduate school.
- Music with elective studies in business – for those interested in a career in the music industry.
Opportunities to perform
If performing is your thing, you’ll have lots of opportunities at Berry – on and off campus. The Berry Concert Choir, for example, has performed in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Salzburg and Vienna and often performs in Atlanta and with the Chattanooga Symphony and Chattanooga Opera Company. Large performance groups at Berry College include the Symphonic Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Berry Singers and Oak Hill Symphony. Chamber groups at Berry include the Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir, Woodwind Ensemble, Berry Bones (Trombones) and Trumpet Choir

Wherever your interests lie, you can get lots of hands-on experience at Berry College.
