Pre-Pharmacy
Are you interested in Pharmacy as a Career? A Pharmacist does much more than dispense medicine - they are a
source of information for physicians and patients in the selection,
dosage, and administration of the thousands of medications available.
Every year, more students seek careers in modern pharmacy. With careful
planning it is possible to enter the workforce with a PharmD. in as
little as 6 years.
Can Berry get you into Pharmacy school?
In recent years, Berry students have enjoyed nearly 100 percent
acceptance rate into pharmacy schools. Entry requirements vary in each
school, so undergraduates should know the requirements for the school
they plan to attend. Generally, pharmacy schools require a strong
foundation in biology, general and organic chemistry, and math. The
Berry College liberal arts education provides firsthand experience
through the student work program which enables students to work as
teaching assistants and research assistants. Students also have
opportunities to conduct their own research or intern as technicians in
area pharmacies.
What about the faculty and facilities?
The biology and chemistry departments are housed in an
ultramodern science building, one of the finest science education
facilities in the nation. The center is designed to promote hands-on
learning and faculty-student collaboration in research and study with
tissue culture labs, greenhouses, a microscopy suite and an aquatics
laboratory. The faculty includes graduates from the University of
Vermont, Rutgers University, the University of Cincinnati,
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Virginia, and
many more.
Are there any related clubs or organizations?
While there are no clubs specifically for students interested in
pharmacy, many students choose to join the Allied Health Sciences
Club, the Biology Club, and the Chemistry Club.
