Careers in Environmental Sciences

The Environmental Sciences curriculum at Berry College provides a unique opportunity for students to participate in an interdisciplinary major related to the environment. A flexible combination of courses exposes students majoring in environmental science to a broad spectrum of offerings that would otherwise be difficult to obtain in the more traditional science or social science programs.

The proposed interdisciplinary Environmental Science Major involves course work in Biology, Business/Economics, Chemistry, Math, Political Science, Sociology/Ethics, and Geology. The Environmental Science Major prepares students who plan to enhnace their training in the natural sciences, continue toward advanced training in one of the many specific fields in the environmental sciences, or seek employment in a variety of entry-level environmental careers:

Environmental Consulting Ground and Surface Water Contamination
Hazardous Waste Handling Pesticide use and Toxicology
Chemical Waste Treatment Habitat Protection and Restoration
Parks and Recreation Sustainable Agriculture
Environmental Planning Urban, Rural, and Regional Planning
Land Assessment Waste Management
Industrial Hygiene Renewable Resource use
Corporate Environmental Management Environmental Policy
Federal and State Environmental Protection Environmental Laws
Federal and State Fish and Wildlife Service Environmental Chemistry
Public Health Environmental Economics
Environmental Ethics
