Day Two: Check out Dive and Orientation to Coral Reefs
Today was the first full day of activities. The first order of business was the check out dive. Everyone did well and for a number of the students, this was their first ocean dive. They were amazed!! We returned for a good lunch and then headed back out for their first real dive. In addition to enjoying the fish and coral, the students did a coral bleaching survey for Project AWARE. They found it interesting to try to record data underwater.

After a good dinner (shrimp creole or roast beef), the group enjoyed an enlightening lecture about sampling techniques and the history of coral reefs.
