Roatan: Summer 2012 - Day 12

Day Twelve: Project Dives
It was another great day in the tropics! The weather has been very kind to us thus far and we were able to do two good project dives this morning. The students learned today that underwater research is not as easy as it seems. None the less, the students conducted a number of interesting and valuable research projects. They will have the opportunity to present their finding on Friday night. This afternoon we made a visit to the Rocky Shore habitat. This intertidal zone hosts a myriad of snails, chitons, and other invertebrates. Then to round off the day, we had our second lecture on dolphin biology which was presented by the Director of the Marine Lab. Dinner tonight was the beach BBQ (ribs and chicken), then the hermit crab race, followed by the limbo and dance contest. As we mentioned last week, the group was up against some stiff competition from Nebraska Wesleyan. I am pleased to tell you that Joe was able to hang on to his limbo title and the group did well in the dance venue.
