Berry Physics in the Press
The physics & astronomy program at Berry College has gotten some good press recently and we'd like
to share it with you! The following stories have appeared in recent issues of
Berry Magazine:
- Learning by doing:
An essay by Berry President Scott Colley about student research. The essay mentions work done by
physics majors Frank Petruzielo, John Foreman, Courtney Griffin, and Carly Donahue.
- Rocket Girl:
An article about Ann Fite Whitaker (61C), head of NASA's Science Directorate and one of
the first female physics majors at Berry.
- Tyler Coats hits home
run in life: An article about Tyler Coats (04C), outstanding student-athelete who
excelled at Berry as a baseball player and as a physics major.
- Fabulous Faculty:
Paul Wallace: Our own Paul Wallace is featured in the fabulous faculty section (page 5).
- Targeting Terror:
This article describes the work of nuclear physicsist and Berry grad Gil Miller (50C) to
develop more effective baggage-screening devices.
- World Class:
An article describing a collaboration between Berry physics professor Todd Timberlake and
Berry physics major John Foreman (02C) that led to a publication in
Physical Review Letters.
- Extreme Science:
An article on the work of Dwight Adams (53C), Berry grad and 2005 winner of the
prestigious Keithley Award of the American Physical Society.
- Campus Kudos for Chuck Lane:
The Fall 2002 issue of the Berry Chronicle (the old alumni magazine) has a piece on on Dr.
Chuck Lane's research on space-based tests of Special Relativity. Look on page 8, in the Campus
Kudos section.
