Study Abroad Financial Information
International Programs awards scholarships each spring. The 2009-2010 International Programs Scholarship Competition is open!
Check out these tips for studying abroad economically!
The Basics:
- For approved traditional programs, students pay tuition to Berry. Berry will then pay tuition to the institution abroad.
- In the rare case that the institution abroad has a higher tuition than Berry, students are responsible for paying the difference.
-
Students pay the following additional fees:
- $500 deposit toward study abroad semester tuition
- program application fees and deposits
- postage for any applications or mailings
- program room and board
- insurance (if program does not include insurance, students are required to purchase a policy from TW Lord & Associates)
- airfare
- books, materials fees and personal expenses - passport and visa - any other required program fees
-
Students participating in ISEP exchange programs pay Berry tuition and Berry room and board fees, among others; Berry will cover the application fee!
- Students may use their Berry financial aid for one experience of Education Abroad on a direct/paid program. This includes tuition remission. For a 2nd experience, students must apply to an ISEP or other exchange program, or they may apply as a transient and pay costs out of pocket. Students may also study an entire academic year abroad on an exchange program.
- Normally, academic aid applies to study abroad semester programs; however, it is the student's responsibility to confirm with Financial Aid which of their awards may be applied to study abroad.
- International Programs has study abroad scholarships available for summer and semester terms abroad. The scholarship competition is held at the beginning of each spring semester for the following academic year.
- Students wishing to participate in a non-approved program may do so in one of two ways. First, they may register as transient and pay the program directly. There is no access to Berry institutional aid for studying abroad as a transient student.
Or students may petition the International Programs Committee to approve a new program. Contact the IP Director for more information.
