Traveled to Honduras and El Salvador, Summer 2012
While traveling in Honduras and El Salvador, I stayed with very wealthy family, middle class family, all the way down to a family who lives in a cement house with a simple tin roof. It’s amazing to see the wide variety of culture in a country that is not my own. This picture was taken in Agua Fria, Chalatenango, El Salvador (yes, the name of the town translates into “Cold Water” which accurately describes the water in the showers) in the poorest part of El Salvador that I witnessed. It’s so amazing to see the generosity of the people who have little more than tortillas and beans, but they are willing to share everything they have. The best part of traveling was my ability to bring back pieces of El Salvador--memories, pictures, a new language, recipes, the love of a family, and experiences that could never be recreated. I will keep those with me forever.
