This is Wuzhen, an ancient riverside town in the
north of Tongxiang City. People often
call it the last resting-on-water town in China. This small, peaceful town has two thousand
years of history. With its black-tiled
and timber-framework houses, it gives people a feeling of Chinese ink wash
painting. Wuzhen’s uniqueness lies in its layout, being 1.24 miles and divided
into six districts. The civilian houses have being well-preserved since they
were built in the Qin Dynasty. The girders, columns, doors and windows are of great
workmanship, and people still live in those houses now.
