Information handout on UB

University of Birmingham

Birmingham, UK

Location
Birmingham is a major European city located in the center of England, less than two hours away from London. Its location offers a wide variety of travel options, and with over nine billion dollars of investment in the last 20 years, the city has been redeveloped into one with first-class sporting, social, and cultural facilities.

Program of Study
The University of Birmingham is one of the leading research institutions in the UK – and with 26,000 students from 150 countries, it’s an academic community which is as cosmopolitan as the city it stands in. In relationship to the Berry curriculum, this program will help fulfill some general education requirements and major courses. The Birmingham curriculum is a comprehensive one that will meet the needs of many students.

Living ArrangementsUBVideo
Self-catered and catered (breakfast and one evening meal) halls are available. Most of the rooms are singles with a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living space. Residence hall accommodation is available for most students who apply early. International and local students live together and the residence halls are co-ed.

Students pay Berry College tuition.  Most students living in the UK need about £650 a month to live on.  This will cover accommodation, food, clothes and basic needs. Self-catering halls cost approximately £400 per month, and meals are £75 per month. Check the accommodation fees and cost of living amounts.  Some annual trips and weekend excursions are included in the program cost. Other costs (not included): academic expenses, laundry, T.V. and T.V. license, bus/train pass, personal expense/travel.
