Seville, Spain

Spanish Studies Abroad (formerly Center for Cross-Cultural Study)

CCCSGraphicLocation CC-CS is located in Seville, Spain. It is a beautiful town with a crowded centre full of narrow streets and small squares. Its flamenco, bullfighting and nightlife are unparalleled. Every April, Seville throws one of Spain's biggest parties, the Feria de Abril. A couple of weeks before the feria, the city has Semana Santa (Holy Week) processions that are among the most splendid in Spain.

Program of Study
The Center for Cross-Cultural Study offers a US-modeled curriculum with a wide variety of course offerings. Students take upper division classes in Spanish language, literature, history and society. They are encouraged to attend the January term if studying spring semester.  Qualified students may take courses with Spanish students at the University of Seville or complete an internship.

Living Arrangements
Berry students live with a family at a homestay, where the student becomes a part of a traditional Spanish family. Homestays include full room and board as well as laundry and the cleaning of the student's room. The Center regularly inspects the homes to ensure that it provides a warm and tranquil environment.

Costs
Students pay Berry College semester tuition.  Current semester room and board prices are $3400 and insurance costs $80. For January plus spring terms, room and board costs $4250 and insurance is $100.  Visa cost for US citizens is $140, plus transportation to Miami to apply for the visa. You may be eligible for the Kathleen Granrose Memorial Scholarship!

Eligibility
Students are required to have a minimum 3.0 GPA in Spanish coursework. Students who enroll in the Upper-Division Program are required to have completed at least one 300-level Spanish class at Berry.

Studying in Spain requires a visa, which students may apply for at the Spanish consulate in Miami or at the consulate for the jurisdiction in which they reside. Students are encouraged to make a visa appointment as soon as possible, as appointments fill early. Appointments must be scheduled through the consulate's partner VFS Global. At this time there is a 6 Euro charge for this service, but students may contact VFS for any visa question. It is necessary to submit visa documents in person at the Miami or other Spanish consulate. Currently there is a $160 charge for the visa. Berry College is not responsible for obtaining the visa or for visa denials.
