A simplistic
way of life has always been part of the Palestinian culture. This old man on
the donkey in the village of Jifna represents a traditional way of travel for
Palestinians and a method that is still present in Palestine’s villages today.
He is probably on his way to work to pick olives from his olive trees. Due to
roads built for Israeli-settlers only and excluding Palestinians, this old man has
to ride his donkey around the roads to reach his land, which he had previously
been able to access by foot. The saddle that he is sitting in also displays
Palestinian culture: it is a hand-made and hay-filled. Hand-made goods are
commonly found in Palestinian culture.
