Universidad Latina

San José, Costa Rica 

Location
San José is the capital city of Costa Rica. It is the cultural, economic and political center of Costa Rica. Students will experience a vibrant and busy Latin American metropolis at the same time as the lushness of Costa Rica’s natural settings. San Jose features a pedestrian-friendly walkway, cafés, shopping at the Mercado Central, museums, and musical and theater performances at the elegant Teatro Nacional. The Pacific coast is only two hours away from San Jose, while the Caribbean coast is only 4 hours away.

Program of Study
The Universidad Latina offers a Business, Spanish Language and Latin American Culture program during the semester, and Spanish Language and Latin American Culture in the summer. The program is focused for students wanting to study Spanish language, international business, international communications and environmental studies. Class sizes are usually around 15 students and are only with other ISA students. Class placement is dependent upon the number of semesters one has of college level Spanish courses.

Living Arrangements
Students will experience living in a Costa Rican (Tico) Homestay with a local family. Each Homestay will include breakfast and dinner every day (except for excursion days) and laundry service once a week. Each student will have their own bedroom. There may be more than one ISA student living at each Homestay. Every family has been carefully selected by ISA's resident staff in order to ensure a comfortable, enjoyable and immersive living situation.

Students may also find independent housing. Students who select this option will receive a discount equal to the housing portion of the program price.

Costs
Students pay Berry College semester tuition plus approximately $1200 in room and board fees. Prices are subject to change and other fees apply.

Eligibility
Minimum GPA of 2.50
If student has not completed 2 semesters of college level Spanish courses, one must choose a Spanish class as one of their courses.

Semester Programs include 4 excursions to Playa Tamarindo, Arenal Volcano & La Fortuna, Montreverde Cloud Forest, and an optional trip to Panama.
