Shadowing Opportunities in Medical Field
Berry College nursing student Ansley Kimberly recently learned an important lesson – she can handle the sight of blood.
That’s because Kimberly, of Douglasville, Ga., was allowed to observe cardiac surgeries by shadowing an anesthesiologist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Berry's Career Center is providing a new kind of firsthand experience for Kimberly and other pre-med and nursing students through a shadowing program. While the Career Center focuses on developing opportunities through alumni, Adjunct Biology Professor Joseph McDade and Glenda Orloff, director of Berry’s dual-degree nursing program, are aiming to equip students with the skills they need to act professionally through Blue Ridge Area Health Education Center.

Student Rebuilds Adirondack Chairs
Yank Moore, an environmental sciences major lead a team of fellow students on a summer project rebuilding Adirondack chairs on campus. The students assembled several prototypes and tested different production methods. By the end of the year, the team built 54 new chairs for the college that are now located around campus.

Students Work Virtually
Working “virtually” with colleagues at INERGI, a firm based in Huntsville, Ala., a team of three
Berry students researched the development and deployment of the TOW missiles, including the industrial and employee teams that built the system over a 40-year period and key battles in which it was used. The students’ work formed the basis of the new exhibit’s centerpiece, a suite of four “digital scrapbooks” describing the missile system in great detail for visitors as they stand in front of a glass enclosure housing each missile variant.
