Gifts for Student Work
Growing numbers of students are now choosing Berry. And growing numbers of students want and need to participate in Berry’s Work Experience Program.
The program continues to evolve quickly as the nation’s premier program with extensive efforts under way to ensure that every student job is meaningful – both to the student and the college – and provides a developmental path to more responsible positions. The Berry Student Enterprises initiative is just one example of the exciting changes taking place. Students are now running 11 enterprises on campus; The Berry Farms Genetics Enterprise went international when it sold 50 Jersey embryos to Jamaican dairies.
Success – both in admissions and work program enhancement – has brought a new set of challenges. The capacity of the Work Experience Program is significantly stretched, and the program budget has doubled over recent years to $5 million. New avenues of funding are required for continued development of the nation’s premier Work Experience Program.
We are grateful for the many donors who targeted their gifts to student work in 2009-10.
