Gate of Opportunity Scholarships
Building on Berry’s rich history of combining rigorous academics with firsthand values-based work experience, the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship is a four-year program offering highly motivated students with a “can-do” attitude and strong work ethic the opportunity to experience the fullness of a Berry education and to graduate debt free.
Each Gate of Opportunity Scholarship represents a partnership between the student/family, Berry College and, in many instances, a donor(s) who shares our belief in the life-changing power of a Berry education. Each contributes one third of the cost of the scholarship on an annual basis.
Students selected for the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship benefit from a challenging academic program, four years of meaningful values-based work experience and a stimulating campus community. In addition, Berry assists each recipient in developing an integrated four-year plan that includes study, work and personal development, and valuable mentoring experiences.
The minimum endowment level for a Gate of Opportunity Scholarship is $225,000, which can be reached over five years. When fully funded, the scholarship will generate monies each year for the student’s education. An annual expendable Gate of Opportunity Scholarship may be established with a yearly gift of $10,000.
Exciting news!
Currently, donors can establish a $225,000 named scholarship with a gift of only $100,000, thanks to the generous Donor Opportunity Fund established by an anonymous friend. This fund, designed to inspire support for Berry students willing to take ownership of their own education through hard work, matches gifts of $100,000 to $500,000 at the rate of $1.25 for every dollar contributed. (A different formula applies for planned gifts, such as those made through an estate.) The goal: To create more scholarships faster for more hardworking students!
