Work – A Value that Endures

For more than century, work has been a core component of our mission to provide each student an integrated education of the head, heart and hands. Martha Berry understood intuitively that intellectual and practical skills could be combined to powerful effect in educating people known for their work ethic, moral character, integrity, ingenuity and a commitment to service.

The face of Berry work has changed over time, but our belief in the fundamental value of “worthwhile work well done” remains central to our strategic vision of providing a premier Work Experience Program that is both an indispensable resource for students and a model for other institutions.

Today, students can get relevant, firsthand and progressively more responsible experience in more than 300 different types of on-campus jobs, including such advanced positions as supervisors of student teams, project managers and CEOs of Student Enterprises. In the process, they learn important life lessons about personal and social responsibility, determination and resourcefulness.

You can support our efforts to offer firsthand work opportunities for students through gifts to the Firsthand Fund and work-based scholarships. Other options are also available. Contact us today!
