The Alumni Accent - An e-newsletter from Berry College

It's that time again!

The Berry population will swell by several thousand this weekend as alumni, students, parents, faculty/staff and friends gather for Mountain Day 2011. If you haven't made plans to join us, WHAT'S STOPPING YOU? Your friends want to see you, and so do we. Simply download an event schedule and Mountain Day FAQ, and you'll have everything you need. Still lacking motivation? Check out this video introduction to Mountain Day for first-year students. If it doesn't bring back golden memories of days gone by, you don't bleed silver and blue!

Mountain Day reunions:
Let's get together

If you are a member of the college or academy classes of 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001 or 2006, don't forget Saturday evening's Mega Reunion on the grounds of Oak Hill and The Martha Berry Museum. Parking will be available at the Harbin Clinic (across Martha Berry Highway from the Oak Hill property). Shuttle service starts at 4 p.m.; class photos begin at 4:30. More details.

Mountain Day Convocation:
Welcome home Laura!

This year's Mountain Day Convocation features a new location (Frost Chapel) and a speaker familiar to many in Berry's young alumni community — Laura Sutton (09C). The former SGA president recently completed her Master of Education degree in organizational leadership from Vanderbilt University. She now serves as a human capital analyst for Deloitte Consulting. The convocation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, preceding the picnic and Grand March.

Mountain Day:
Virtually speaking

If you're not going to be on campus Saturday, you can still join the fun via Virtual Mountain Day. Watch streaming video of the Grand March and chat via Twitter with your Berry friends by including #mtnday11 in your tweet.

Funhogs come to Berry

In the last issue of the Alumni Accent, we told you about the Funhog Family 50 State Challenge being undertaken by Brian (97C) and Jodi (98C) Tuten and their five children. Just a few days later, we were excited to welcome them back to Berry. While on campus, they shared their amazing story with 11 Alive News in Atlanta (click image) and the Rome News-Tribune.

All the news
that's fit to print

The fall 2011 issue of Berry magazine is hot off the presses and should be arriving in your mail box any day now. Don't-miss stories in this issue include a new entrepreneurial venture for Steve Cage (74C), a walk on the "wild" side with conservationist Stephanie Graham (07C) and a new student award honoring the bedside manner of Dr. Scott Markle (92C). If you can't wait for a hard copy, click the cover to access the publication electronically. Past issues are available in our online archive.
