Robert L. Huff (51C)

Award: 2008 Distinguished Service Award

Achievements: Recently honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Georgia State Nursing Home Association, Robert L. Huff (51C) has given countless hours of selfless work to his church and community. A volunteer at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Columbus, Ga., for more than 20 years, Mr. Huff’s responsibilities have included everything from building storage shelves in resident rooms and painting wall murals to assisting residents with ceramic and woodworking projects and providing entertainment with his voice or trumpet. His efforts recently drew the praise and appreciation of the Columbus City Council. Mr. Huff is an active participant in the “Meals on Wheels” and “Brown Bagging” ministries with churches in his community. In 2000, he was the recipient of the Instrumentalist of the Year award from Edgewood Baptist Church in Columbus. From 1991 until 2007, he played trumpet and baritone horn in free community concerts as a member of the Bob Barr Community Band.
