Chapter Minutes - East Tennessee Chapter
October 23, 2010
The 4th chapter meeting was held at noon at the Pointe Restaurant in Dandridge, located beside Douglas Lake. The beautiful autumn colors added to the view. There were 13 present for the meeting. All present extended the Berry hugs with greetings and fellowship. Jim Bell blessed the food before we ate. All seemed to enjoy their meal.
The July minutes were read by Mary Guthrie, Secretary. They were approved.
Luci Bell, President, thanked everyone for attending. She said we were happy to have Elizabeth Shirley and her son, Marcus Shirley, with us as well as Joanna Richardson's husband, Troy, and their beautiful daughter, Laura. Due to illness and family obligations, some of our faithful members were unable to attend. Luci explained the reason for Luther and Genny Pugh's absence, saying that their daughter had been severely injured in an accident which occurred at her hair salon when a car crashed into the building, injuring all three operators. She asked us to keep them in our prayers. Donations of $53 were taken for them.
Luci suggested that our chapter send a memorial gift to Berry in memory of Dewey Large, who died on August 13 at 88 years of age. She said Dewey was very dedicated and faithful to Berry College and to our chapter. A motion was made and seconded that our chapter send a memorial gift to Berry in memory of Dewey.
A collection for our chapter funds was taken. $37 was collected. A financial report will be given at a later date since our treasurer, Grace Johnson, was absent today.
Luci said she would like to see plaques displayed in a prominent place at Berry listing ALL Berry students who have served in the military. Everyone agreed with her!
Peggy Tillery delivered 18 lbs. of canned goods, contributed at this meeting, to the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission.
Joanna and Troy volunteered to have our Christmas meeting at their home in Lenoir City on Saturday, December 4 at noon.
