Chapter Minutes - East Tennessee Chapter
March 10, 2007
The first 2007 quarterly chapter meeting was held at noon at that Magnolia Tree Resaurant in Oak Ridge with 23 present.
After placing our lunch orders, Luci Bell greeted everyone, especially those who had not attended for some time. She called the meeting to order and asked that the December minutes be read. They were read and approved.
At Luci's request, Frances Barnett and Mary Guthrie gave a brief report on the Council Meeting, which they had attended at Berry on February 3. Everyone was pleased that an affirmative vote had passed which would allow chapter presidents to attend the council meetings. It was also voted upon at the council meeting to allow a chapter officer to attend the meetings, in the event the chapter president cannot attend.
Luci reported on several staff changes recently made at Berry.
The financial report given by Grace Johnson, Treasurer, indicated a balance of $280.34 in the chapter treasury. Donations at this meeting totaled $122, bringing the current fund to $302.34.
Frances Barnett was unanimously elected as chapter historian.
Luci reported that our scheduled meeting for May at the home of Luther and Genny Puch has been postponed due to illness.
It was announced that the October meeting will be held in Dandridge. The luncheon will take place at Smoky's restaurant, and the meeting will be held nearby at the home of Mary Guthrie.
Luci reminded us of the scheduled gathering with Dr. Steve Briggs, Berry's new president, to be held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in KNoxville, on Thursday, March22. The purpose of this meeting is to introduce Dr. Briggs to the alumni in the East Tennessee area. Several volunteered to call a list of alumni to encourage them to attend. A previous invitation from the Alumni Office had already been mailed to alumni in this area.
Having no further new business, Luci adjourned the meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Shurling Guthrie, Secretary
