Chapter Minutes - East Tennessee Chapter

A delightful Christmas luncheon was held at the Whitestone Inn on Watts Bar Lake on Friday, December 14. The inn and surrounding countryside were breathtakingly beautiful! Along with nice weather, it was a perfect day for Berry friends to gather. There were 22 members and guests present.
We were honored to have Jennifer Beard and Fred Mercer from Berry's Alumni Office as guests. The always brighten our meetings with their presence.
After Lunch, Luci Bell held a brief business meeting. The minutes of the October meeting were read and approved. Luci informed us that Billy Smith had died. Billy was the person responsible for starting the Berry Work Week Program.
Lucy said the dedication ceremony for the new Cage Athletic and Recreation Center will be held on January 25 at 3:30 p.m. Fred said that the last game to be played in the old gym will take place on January 19, with Berry versus Auburn. Fred also said that volunteers are needed to help with the dedication activities, and if anyone would like to help to notify him. The annual Founder's Day Service will take place on the same afternoon at 2 p.m. in the College Chapel. An Alumni Council meeting will be held the next day, January 26.
Jennifer reminded us of 2008 Work Week, scheduled for June 1 through June 6.
Ruth Hale described the many things she has been sewing for the auction which is held during Work Week. The money from the items will go to the Work Week Fund.
Luci asked for volunteers to serve on a nominating committee to select our next slate of officers. Those nominated will be installed at the July meeting. Jim and Mary Mintz volunteered to serve on the committee.
Luci thanked everyone for attending.
