Spooky Berry

Berry students got into the Halloween spirit with various ghoulish events this year.

The Krannert Center Activities Board (KCAB) hosted the annual Halloween Dance at Ford Gym and this year's theme was "Hollywood Horror." The costume contest winner was student Eric Eaton, who came dressed as Tyler Perry's Madea.

"This is my first year on KCAB so I was very excited to be programming an event that is so well-received," said sophomore Grace Hopkins, of Chattanooga, Tenn. "It had all the appeal of a night of dancing with your friends, but with the added fun of being in costume and there were some great ones this year."

While the dance took place, the Berry College Alternate Reality Club hosted a Haunted House below the Ford gym. This year's theme was a haunted hospital with references to pop culture such as "Doctor Who", "Silent Hill", "Slender", and "Supernatural."  Taylor Walton a sophomore English major from Savannah, Ga. said that the haunted house is her favorite event to be involved with on campus.

"The amount of work and planning that goes on behind the scenes; I love knowing that I was able to be part of that.  It's a wonderful group event and a great bonding experience," said Walton.

The Berry Lacrosse team also hosted their annual Halloween Costume Scrimmage. Senior public relations major, Mike Voso of Marietta, Ga., said that the event started two years ago as just Halloween fun but now the game is also a canned food drive. Berry's Block and Bridle hosted their annual Scary Berry haunted hay ride and walking trail which boasted high attendance and good scares into the weekend.
