Celebrating Our Donors

More than 350 Berry College donors and scholarship recipients recently enjoyed an evening of entertainment at Berry’s 13th annual Scholarship Night.

Students lined the entrance to the campus and held candles to show their appreciation welcoming guests to the very special night. Once seated in the Steven J. Cage Athletic and Recreation Center, donors enjoyed a three-course meal alongside their students. The evening began with a warm welcome from President Steve Briggs. The Berry College Concert Choir performed a beautiful rendition of “You Raise Me Up,” and after dinner the choir sang “We are The Watch Makers,” an original piece composed by Berry Professor of Music Stan Pethel.

Senior Stephanie Tomys, originally from the U.K., spoke to the audience about the Berry College difference. Tomys is the first recipient of the scholarship named for Dana Professor of Government and International Studies Peter A. Lawler.

"People like you change lives. People who show the level of generosity that this event honors are why Berry is different," Tomys told donors and students.

Two new scholarships were also announced in honor of trustees Terry Graham and L.P. “Pete” Roberts.
