Two to Tango
The
Berry College Wind Ensemble and the Berry Dance Troupe recently joined
forces
for a “Night of Tangos and more …” in the Ford auditorium. The
performance included works by Gardel, Piazzolla, Ginastera, and
Matos-Rodriguez, and featured guest conductor José Cladera, of Buenos
Aires, Argentina and Associate Professor of Music Glenn Garrido.
Cladera is a renowned conductor and has conducted in theatres of Argentina, Uruguay,
Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and Holland. He is also the
artistic director and
conductor of the Pascual Grisolé National Symphonic Band and the Youth
Symphony Orchestra of San Isidro. Argentina’s Deputy Consul Ana Saino
was in attendance.
The
special participation of the Berry College Dance Troupe was directed by
Dance
Specialist Jeanne Schul and Associate Professor of Music Kris Carlisle.
The Berry Department of Music serves the campus and community by
presenting over 30 free concerts annually, including the Berry College
Concert Series.
