Campsite Policies
Viking Outdoor Recreation
Berry College is a beautiful and scenic campus of more than 26,000 acres. We hope that you enjoy taking part in our recreational activities. Our mission, first and foremost, is to provide incomparable opportunities for the students. These opportunities include recreational activities, outdoor classroom experiences, research programs and now camping. Campus camping opportunities are available to you only and not the general public. In respect to Berry College, our department, and our mission we ask that you observe the following policies:
- Campers operate by a simple rule: leave a place better than you found it. We ask that you do the same. Our campus will remain beautiful if we each do our part. Please do not litter or engage in any activity that damages the camp site or the surrounding area.
- All students must comply with the campus policies in the Viking Code.
- Only those students who have registered for the campsite with Viking Outdoor Recreation are allowed on the campgrounds.
- Tent rental and usage is gender specific.
- The campsite gate must stay locked at all time. Lock the gate after you enter and exit.
- No pets are allowed on the campgrounds.
- Campsites will be inspected when you leave.
- The Site Supervisor will conduct random site checks during the evening and morning hours.
- Please respect and protect all of Berry’s wildlife and historical, archeological and research sites. No objects may be removed or damaged. Electronic devices used for “treasure-hunting” are also prohibited.
- Only one motor vehicle per campsite is permitted
- All campfires must remain in the designated fire pits. No fires shall be made in the picnic area. Please extinguish all fires before going to sleep.
- No swimming, boating or fishing are permitted in Victory Lake.
- Students should observe all posted signs.
- Students must have their IDs at the campsite.
Failure to abide by these policies may result in the revocation of any future camping privileges. Violations of the Viking Code will be referred to the Dean of Students.
