Job Summary - In February 2012, Berry College announced plans to offer the BSN degree. The Berry College nursing program will be leadership and future oriented, placing special emphasis on preparing nurses in the area of health care informatics, gerontology, cancer care, cultural diversity, and community health promotion. In addition, the program will include a cross-cultural immersion experience that will have Berry College students serving diverse populations either domestically or abroad. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program was granted initial approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON) in November 2012. The college’s new program will apply for provisional membership in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) as a developing program pursuing accreditation from the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at the earliest possible date. The first nursing classes will be offered in January 2014. This position will be tenure track. Faculty will participate in classroom and clinical instruction, student recruitment, academic advising, retaining and mentoring highly qualified students. The ability to think creatively, a willingness to commit to flexible integrated teaching assignments and work schedules, and the desire to be involved in a caring, learner-centered teaching environment are needed. Candidates must document the use of creative teaching strategies, experience in a simulation-learning environment, evidence of scholarly activity, and they should be knowledgeable of and able to apply QSEN and AACN standards of practice. An interest in health informatics, gerontology, cancer care, community service, global cross-cultural experiences, creative curriculum design, and program development is highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications - For Professor: Doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related field and licensure as a registered nurse in Georgia. Specialty areas may include adult health, maternal/child health, or community health nursing. For Clinical Practice (Non-Tenure Track) Appointments: Master’s degree in nursing and licensure as a registered nurse in Georgia. Specialty areas may include adult health, maternal/child health, or community health nursing.

Preferred Qualifications - For Professor (tenure track): Previous baccalaureate teaching experience preferred. For Clinical Practice (non-tenure track): Doctorate in nursing or a closely related field is preferred. Previous baccalaureate teaching experience preferred.
