Steven J. Cage, of Indianapolis, Ind., is a 1974 graduate of Berry College and a member of its Board of Trustees. He is founder and president of Product Action LLC, the leading provider of quality improvement services for the automotive industry. An entrepreneur, Mr. Cage built his business on quality and integrity – two values he learned at home and honed at Berry College.
Mr. Cage and his late father, Robert Cage Sr., started Product Action in 1980. His father retired three months later, leaving Mr. Cage with what he described as “the entrepreneurial challenge of a lifetime.”
Today, Product Action’s more than 4,000 employees provide inspection, engineering and education services across the automotive industry. They drive quality for Toyota, General Motors, Mercedes, Honda, Ford, DaimlerChyrsler and numerous Tier 1 and 2 suppliers.
The company is a five-time winner of the Indiana Quality Improvement Award, including the 2002 Gold Award as the top services company and the 2003 Silver Award for innovative human resources practices. Product Action also has been recognized as one of Indiana’s top-growth companies.
A former member of the Berry College Board of Visitors, Mr. Cage became a trustee in 2003. He resides in Indianapolis.
