Conson Wilson Lecture Series
Speakers are recognized authorities and scholars from a wide range
of backgrounds who lecture to and meet with students and faculty.
Notable past lecturers include news commentator William F. Buckley,
U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, famed authors Alex Haley and Tom
Wolfe, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Jeanne
Kirkpatrick.

We are very pleased to provide our conference attendees admission to a lecture by Dr. Maya Angelou. Dr. Angelou will be speaking as part of “One Book, Many Voices,” a Rome/Floyd County community event, on Thursday evening, September 27 (for further information on this event please visit: http://www.romelibrary.org/onebook.html). A ticket and transportation will be provided for full conference attendees (Thursday-Saturday) to and from the Forum in downtown Rome where the event will be held. If you are registering for Saturday only and would like to see Dr. Angelou, the public library’s website contains information on ticket sales, which open August 15. Unfortunately, Dr. Angelou will not be available to sign books or meet the audience.

Dr. Tyler Cowen

Tyler Cowen has a Ph.D in economics from Harvard University and is currently a professor of economics at George Mason University. He has edited the volume Public Goods and Market Failures, and has written Explorations in the New Monetary Economics with Randall Kroszner. He has just finished a book, Markets and Cultural Voices, April 2005, and has three other books in print: In Praise of Commercial Culture, What Price Fame?, and Creative Destruction.

Leo Hickman is a features journalist and editor at the Guardian newspaper in London. He writes a weekly column about ethical living and is the author of A Life Stripped Bare: My Year Trying to Live Ethically (2005), A Good Life: The Guide To Ethical Living (2005), and The Final Call: In Search of the True Cost of Our Holidays (2007).
