Richards Gymnasium Renovation
Roy Richards Memorial Gymnasium has been given
new life and will soon welcome Berry students and
Inside the change is
stunning. The old swimming pool was filled in and is now a state-of-the-art
strength and conditioning space. Connected to that area is an athletic training
room. Football, men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s tennis also
have locker rooms in the facility with Viking themed accents.
The Dance Lab floor was replaced and the BOLD offices were updated. The building received all new electrical,
heat and air, paint, and flooring throughout. Offices have been added for football, men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s tennis as well as
ramps, parking spaces and sidewalks. Outside, one of the intramural fields has
been converted to a practice field for football and lacrosse.
Using Berry brick, students constructed Memorial
Gymnasium in 1937 and it was renovated in 1986 through donations by the Roy
Richards estate. The recent renovations are again thanks to generous Berry
