Michael Meyerhofer, GPC 2007-2008
Michael Meyerhofer’s third book, Damnatio
Memoriae, won the Brick Road Poetry Book Contest, and his second book, Blue
Collar Eulogies, was published by Steel Toe Books in 2009. His
first, Leaving Iowa (2007)
won the Liam Rector First Book Award from Briery Creek Press. He has also published five chapbooks, the latest, Pure Elysium,
was the winner of the Palettes and Quills Chapbook Contest. His others include The Clay-Shaper’s Husband (winner
of the Codhill Press Chapbook Award), Real Courage (winner
of the Terminus Magazine and Jeanne Duval Editions Poetry Chapbook Prize), The Right Madness of Beggars (winner
of the Uccelli Press Chapbook Competition), and Cardboard Urn (winner
of the Copperdome Chapbook Contest). In 2006, he won the James Wright Poetry Award from Mid-American Review. He
also won both the 2007 Laureate Prize for Poetry and the 2006 Annie Finch Prize for Poetry from National Poetry
Review. His work has appeared in Ploughshares, River
Styx, Arts & Letters, North
American Review, Crab Orchard Review, Asimov’s
Science Fiction Magazine, Quick Fiction, Sentence,
MARGIE, Another
Chicago Magazine, Green Mountains
Review, Verse Daily and
other journals. His novel, Wytchfire, the first in a series, is forthcoming from Double Dragon Publishing
in 2013. He currently teaches Poetry, Creative Writing, and Composition at Ball State University.
