Biographical Information: Elizabeth Brewster was educated at Stanford University. She taught English and assisted Martha and Frances Berry teaching Sunday school during the early days of the Berry Schools. Elizabeth Brewster was the first teacher at the Boys Industrial School and she later became the Dean of Women.
Description: This collection is subdivided into four types of correspondence. Administrative correspondence includes letters to and from other teachers, students, alumni, and donors, including a large portion of papers dealing with matters regarding the weaving and handicrafts operations. Personnel correspondence includes letters that relate to applications from prospective Berry teachers and staff. Routine correspondence focuses on requests for school catalogs, applications; and general information. Subject correspondence concerns catalogs and catalog requests, correspondence from the comptroller; teacher applications, and information on the products for the Girls' School. Container and folder list available by request.
