Biographical Information:
Description: The papers were transferred to the Berry College Archives on August 30, 2000 from the Martha Berry Museum. The collection is divided into three categories: Confederate States of America Military Reports – Quartermaster Division; Business and Legal Papers of Captain Thomas and and Mrs. Frances Rhea Berry; and personal correspondence of Mrs. Frances Rhea Berry.
Captain Berry served the Confederate States of America during the Civil War in the Quartermaster Division. Records kept regarding his duties in this division comprise the first section of the collection. These papers are not arranged in a specific order.
The business and legal papers and personal correspondence of Captain Thomas and Mrs. Frances Rhea Berry are arranged chronologically. The business/legal papers contain many deeds and a variety contracts between him and area businessmen. The personal correspondence of Mrs. Berry contains several letters from her children, grandchildren, and friends.
