Biographical Information:
Description: Series I largely consists of correspondence between Miss Berry or her office staff and donors to the Berry Schools. Most of Miss Berry's outgoing letters are unsigned carbon copies of typed letters. This series includes some business correspondence between Miss Berry and various school employees and board of trustees members as well as important politically and socially prominent people of the time. There are a few handwritten letters. Many of these handwritten letters are located in individual folders filed under Miss Berry's name.
Although Miss Berry lived until February 1942, she remained in St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta from late autumn of 1941 until her death. Therefore, her office staff probably wrote much of the correspondence in this series dated in the latter part of 1941.
Arrangement: Arranged by year and then alphabetically by correspondents' surnames.
Exception: Letters for possible speaking engagements with Daughters of the American Revolution chapters, years 1922, 1923, 1925-27 and 1931. These are arranged in their own box with items filed by D.A.R. Chapter name.
