Community Patrons

Circulation is probably the most visible service point. Computers keep track of who has what, but only a dedicated crew of caring staff members and student workers can keep the computers in line, greet you with a smile, and provide the human touch that all good library service still requires.

The Circulation Desk, located in the library's front lobby, is where patrons check items in & out, locate course reserve material, pick up and return Interlibrary Loan material, pay fines and purchase computer discs and other supplies to meet an immediate need. For your convenience, there is also a book drop located outside the front door.

Patron Registration

All patrons who wish to check out material from the library need to present proper identification and complete a Patron Registration Form. Registration is completed by our student workers at the Circulation Desk and Library Faculty/Staff are available at all times to answer your questions and help you become familiar with the many services we provide.

Utilizing your online Patron Account

You can access your patron account information online, 24 hours a day, via the Library's Web site. Your patron account contains information about what items you currently have checked out, whether or not you have any outstanding fines or fees, and tells you if your account has been blocked for any reason. Also, Berry-affiliated patrons can renew their checked-out material online.

Confidentiality

The library protects the confidentiality of each patron. We will not provide any information regarding any other person's circulation record. For example, if a checked-out item is urgently needed by you, we will attempt to contact the other patron on your behalf, but we cannot give you their name.

Holds

A hold can be placed on an item that is already checked out via the online catalog. You will be notified upon the item's return and it will be held for you at the Circulation Desk for five days.

What materials are available for checkout?

The library has a large circulating collection including Books, DVD's, videos and children's books. Due to their high demand, newspapers, periodicals, reference material, and microfilm/fiche require special arrangements for use outside the library. The library also maintains a collection of General Reserve items such as laptop computers, academic writing style guides and teaching enhancement books which are available for limited time checkout at the Circulation Desk.
