High School Group Visit Guidelines
Memorial Library welcomes visits by high school classes.
Guidelines
- Classroom teachers should collaborate with their high school media specialist to ensure that the students have used their own library's resources prior to visiting Memorial Library.
- Requests for classes from grades 9 through 12 are accepted. We encourage groups from grades 8 and lower to use their local public library, where more age-appropriate resources are available.
- Group visits must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
- Group visits of more than eight students at a time are typically scheduled when Berry's classes are not in session. Please call ahead for available dates each semester.
- Student groups of eight or less are also encouraged to schedule visits during our breaks, but may be accommodated at other times as our schedule permits.
- Groups must be properly chaperoned and supervised; we suggest one adult for every 10 students.
- The visiting high school agrees to bear ultimate financial responsibility for any damage, theft or loss of college library resources caused by a high school student.
- A college librarian will be happy to provide a brief demonstration of the online catalog and other key resources, as well as a short walking tour of the facility to point out key locations for journal holdings, books, etc.
